Email Groups

Creating a mail group (email distribution list) makes it easy to send email to multiple recipients.

Mail groups are simply a list of email addresses, that are treated as a single entity and are ideal when you need to send to the same group of recipients on a regular basis as you only need to add a single entry rather than selecting multiple individual entries.

Mail groups can be used on either the to, cc or bcc fields and it is not possible to exclude individual addresses from a group. It is for this reason that you should take care when creating the groups.

Nesting Groups

Because it is not possible to exclude addresses from an existing list then it is good practise to create small groups and combine them into larger groups.

This can be seen in the screenshots below with mail groups that i created in outlook Express.

If you're confused by what I mean by excluding an email address from a group then if you look at groupa above it has two members: Adrian and Andrew. It is not possible to send an email to group A and exclude either Adrian or Andrew.
