IncrediMail Passwords
IncrediMail doesn't normally require a password to
use . However; it is possible to password protect IncrediMail by
configuring a password on your IncrediMail Identity.
IncrediMail uses passwords in two locations
- Identities
- Email Accounts
Identities
There is always at least one identity configured (called main
identity by default) but this doesn't normally use a passwords.
Multiple identities are useful when sharing IncrediMail with other
users (normally family use). In this case it is normal to
configure a
password so as to add a little privacy to your email.
Email Accounts
When sending and receiving email IncrediMail must connect to
your email provider. All email providers require authentication/login
with a user name and password for reading email.
Most providers don't require authentication when sending email.
However if you are accessing your email using a different Internet
connection than usual you may get an error message that says something
like:
550: Relaying not allowed or prohibited
In this case configuring your email client to use authentication
when sending will normally correct the problem.
Tools for Recovering a Lost Password
Given the number of passwords that people have today it is very easy to forget one. So what do you do if you've forgot your IncrediMail passswords?
Incredimail is a relatively new email client and there are not so many tools
for recovering lost/forgotten passwords. Account passwords can be recovered using the same
tools as used by Outlook express. I am currently not aware of a tool that will
recover lost/forgotten identity passwords but I will continue looking.
