Wireless Internet
Wireless Internet gives you the ability to access your email and the web while on the move. Wireless Internet uses the same technology that is used in home and Business wireless networks (WI-FI).
WI-FI is available on almost all new laptops, and if not present it can be added by simply inserting a USB WI-FI adaptor.
Wireless Internet In the Home
Most ISPs offer wireless Internet access in the home via a wireless router. Many people confuse this with mobile Wireless Internet. To understand what it is then you need to understand the
current way most users connect to the Internet with DSL.
The typical small wired network uses the configuration shown below:
PCs (1-x)-----HUB------Router-------->Internet (via telephone line)
In a wireless network the Router and Hub are replaced by a Wireless router which provides the same functionality but this time the PCs connect to the router using wireless. (see below)
Wireless PCs (1-x)----Wireless-Router----->Internet (via telephone line)
In older/existing networks the hub is replaced/augmented by a Wireless network access point which allows devices to connect to the Local network and then the Internet.

Mobile Wireless Internet
Not only is the access being used for LANs (Local Are Networks) it is also being provided by the major ISPs for use when on the move. They provide wireless hotspots using the
configurations shown above where you can connect to the Internet via your standard WI-FI equipped laptop.
