Greetings, Announcements and News

Welcome to the February issue of The easy Email Ezine.

Windows Vista has finally been released. You will be aware if you are a regular reader that Outlook Express is not part of windows Vista. It is also not a part of IE7.0 which Microsoft are rolling out with automatic updates.See the MSDN blog

I am seeing quite a lot of newsgroups reporting problems with IE 7.0 and Outlook Express and so I  personally won't be installing IE 7.0 until I have done more research.

If you're not thinking of moving to Windows Vista then you will be please to know that Microsoft have extended support of Windows XP to 2014.

Bought a New Computer?

Although I included it in last months issue I have received many emails related to email being lost/left on an old computer. Before you trash the old one then you need to ensure that you have access to the old data stored on it and that includes your old emails.

If that applies to you then take a look at buying a new computer for some guidelines.

Organising Your Email Part 6 -Email Archiving

Just a quick reminder Of what we have covered in previous issues:

  • Issue 14- Creating Identities to organise email at the user level
  • Issue 15-Using Folders to arrange email in the mailbox
  • Issue 16- Using folder views to Organise the folder
  • Issue 17- finding emails
  • Issue 18- Address book

In this months issue we will look at email archiving and why it is different from Email backup. Continued in Archive Outlook Express Email.

Computer Privacy

Have you ever wondered what would happen if someone got access to your computer? Do you realise what information you have store on it and how that information could be used.

Remember

You should ensure that the details are kept confidential as they are very important (see - If I knew your email account details.

It is also a very good idea to change your account password on a regular basis (every 60 days is sufficient). If you do this you either have to keep a note of the change each time or develop a system for your passwords. It is also important that you do not use the same password anywhere else.
